Punjab Benevolent Fund: Complete Details

Punjab Benevolent Fund is for the employee of Punjab Govt Servant.

Scholarships

The Provincial Benevolent Fund Board invites applications on the prescribed form for grant of Educational Scholarship through publication in the newspaper each year.

Educational Scholarships

Current rates for award of Educational Scholarship granted to the children of government servants per annum are as follows:

Gazetted (Part-I)

  • Primary to Matric level
 PKR 5,000
  • F.A, B.A and equivalent level
 PKR 14,000
  • M.A and equivalent level, BDS, MBBS, B.Sc (Eng), DVM, B.Sc (Hon), Agri, B. Pharmacy, M.Phil, PhD, etc.
 PKR 16,000

Non-Gazetted (Part-II)

  • Primary to Matric level
 PKR 1,500
  • F.A, B.A and equivalent level
 PKR 3,000
  • M.A and equivalent level, BDS, MBBS, B.Sc (Eng), DVM, B.Sc (Hon), Agri, B. Pharmacy, M.Phil, PhD, etc.
 PKR 6,000
 
A special scholarship is awarded to the high achievers i.e. children securing 90% or more marks in any examination in (Matriculation or above), are awarded Rs 50,000 instead of normal rates. Click here to download Application Form.

Marriage

Marriage grant is awarded for the marriage of each daughter of a government servant. Rates of marriage grant are as follows:

Gazetted (Part-I)

  • To a government servant while in service and for 15 years after his/her retirement 
 PKR 40,000
  • To the family of retired government servant in case his/ her death occurs within 15 years of retirement for the un-expired period of 15 years from the date of retirement
 PKR 50,000
  • To the family of a government servant who dies while in service with no time limit to an invalidated retired government servant
 PKR 50,000
  • For 15 years from the date of retirement, in case of his/ her death, within 15 years of retirement - to his/ her family for the un-expired period of 15 years from the date of retirement
 PKR 50,000

Non-Gazetted (Part-II)

  • To a government servant while in service and for 15 years after his/ her retirement
 PKR 15,000
  • To the family of retired government servant in case his/ her death occurs within 15 years of retirement for the un-expired period of 15 years from the date of retirement
 PKR 20,000
  • To the family of a government servant who dies while in service with no time limit
 PKR 20,000
  • To an invalidated retired government servant for 15 years from the date of retirement. For 15 years from the date of retirement, in case of his/ her death, within 15 years of retirement - to his/ her family for the un-expired period of 15 years from the date of retirement
 PKR 20,000

Death/Funeral

On the death of a family member of a government servant funeral grant is awarded according to the following rates:

Gazetted (Part-I)

  • On the death of a government servant
 PKR 10,000
  • On the death of a dependent member of the family of a government servant
 PKR 10,000

Non- Gazetted (Part-II)

  • On the death of a government servant
 PKR 6,000
  • On the death of a dependent member of the family of a government servant
 PKR 6,000
  • On the death of a Non-Gazetted government servant after retirement
 PKR 6,000
 
Application for the grant should be made within 3 years of the death, through the parent's office, which shall be submitted to the concerned Benevolent Fund Board. Click here to download Application Form.


Monthly

On the death of a government servant (Gazetted and Non-Gazetted) himself/ herself, the spouse is awarded a monthly grant. The rates are as follows:

Gazetted (Part-I)

  • BS 16 - 17
 PKR 3,500
  • BS 18 - 19
 PKR 6,000
  • BS 20 - Above
 PKR 8,000

Non-Gazetted (Part-II)

  • BS 01 - 10
 PKR 1,300
  • BS 11 - 15     
 PKR 1,700

Eligibility

Following is the eligibility criteria list to receive monthly grant:

  • Widow for an unexpired period of 15 years from the date of retirement. Widower condition asserts that widow/ widower do not remarry and the widower does not have another wife at the time of death of his spouse.  If there are more than one widow grant shall be divided amongst them in equal shares
  • If the government servant is not survived by a widow then the monthly grant shall be sanctioned in favor of his family members in the order of precedence and subject to the conditions as indicated against each
  • Daughter till her marriage or the attainment of the age of 21 years whichever is earlier
  • Son for a period of 15 years or till the youngest attains the age of 21 years
  • Children for a period of 15 years or till the youngest male child attains the age of 21 years whichever is earlier.  In the case of a female child for 15 years or till her marriage, whichever is earlier
  • Parents for a period of 15 years, in case the employee has no children
  • Sister (youngest, in case there are more than one) till her marriage or the attainment of the age of 21 years whichever is earlier
  • Brother for a period of 15 years or till the youngest attains the age of 21 years
  • If a government servant dies while in service his widow shall get monthly grant for life provided that she does not remarry. If there is more than one widow, grant shall be divided amongst them in equal shares. In case of a widower, the grant shall be for a period of 15 years provided that he does not remarry and does not have another wife at the time of death of his spouse
  • If a government servant is invalidated during service, he/ she shall be entitled to a monthly grant for 15 years from the date of retirement due to invalidation, provided that he/ she has been declared invalid by the concerned Medical Board in category-A on account of loss of limbs or complete loss of eye sight or complete loss of speech or complete deafness or paralysis or complete lunacy or advanced terminal disease and the concerned B.F. Board after due inquiry is satisfied that he/ she is totally incapacitated for any gainful employment in future
  • If a Government servant dies within fifteen years of the date of retirement the grant shall be given to his/ her family as the case may be in the following order of precedence subject to the conditions as indicated against each
  • In case of death of the invalidated grantee within 15 years of his retirement the grant shall be admissible to his/ her family members as the case may be, in the order of precedence subject to the condition as indicated against each
Application for the monthly grant should be made within 3 years of the death/retirement on invalidation grounds through the parent office, which shall be submitted to the concerned Benevolent Fund Board. Click here to download Application Form.


Farewell

An amount equal to last basic pay is awarded to a government servant at the time of superannuation/ retirement on qualifying service/ invalided retirement. Farewell grant is also admissible to the family of a government servant who dies during service, which qualifies him/ her for pension.

Application for the farewell grant should be made within 3 years of superannuation, retirement on qualifying service, invalid retirement or death during service, through the parent's office, to the concerned Benevolent Fund Board. Click here to download Application Form.
